What we do

Our Core Focus Areas

01

Advocacy

As part of its ongoing reproductive health and rights advocacy in Nigeria, the Trust and Support Foundation engaged policymakers, community leaders, healthcare providers, women’s groups and other key stakeholders to promote informed dialogue on laws and policies affecting women’s health.

The advocacy engagement focused on the need to address restrictive laws, harmful narratives and policy gaps that continue to push women and girls toward unsafe reproductive health practices. It also created an opportunity to strengthen understanding of the Ogun State Termination of Pregnancy Guidelines and the importance of adopting supportive policies that protect the health, dignity and rights of women and girls.

Through stakeholder meetings, policy dialogues, community engagement and strategic communication, TSF continues to advocate for evidence-based, rights-based and public-health approaches to reproductive health. The STOP Guidelines remain an important policy guide, and TSF is committed to supporting efforts that strengthen their adoption, implementation and reflection in laws and policies.

02

Community Engagement & Dialogue

TSF trains community women and young girls to strengthen their knowledge, confidence and leadership on women’s health, sexual and reproductive health rights, gender-based violence prevention, referral pathways and access to confidential support services.

The training targets women, adolescent girls, young people and community advocates within TSF project communities. It creates a safe space for participants to learn, ask questions, share experiences and receive accurate, non-judgmental information on issues affecting their health, safety and wellbeing.

This activity is implemented to address misinformation, reduce stigma, promote safer health-seeking behaviours and empower women and girls to make informed decisions about their bodies, health and rights.

Through participatory discussions, storytelling, group exercises, question-and-answer sessions and distribution of approved information materials, participants are equipped to support themselves and others in their communities. The training also strengthens awareness of referrals pathways and support.

TSF believes that when community women and young girls are informed and empowered, they become strong voices for healthier families, safer communities and improved wellbeing for women and girls.

03

Media & Digital Advocacy

TSF continues to use strategic communication to shift harmful narratives, promote accurate information and influence public understanding of women’s health and sexual and reproductive health rights.

Through radio programmes, press releases, social media campaigns, digital content, community messaging and media engagement, TSF shares evidence-informed and rights-based messages with policymakers, community members, women, young people, healthcare providers and the general public.

The purpose of this work is to challenge stigma, reduce misinformation, increase awareness of available support services and promote public dialogue that supports the health, dignity and rights of women and girls.

Strategic communication remains a key tool in TSF’s advocacy approach. It enables the organisation to reach wider audiences, amplify community voices, engage decision-makers and connect women and young people to confidential support.

Impact

TSF’s work has contributed to improved awareness of reproductive rights, increased capacity of healthcare providers, and stronger advocacy for policy reform at state and national levels thereby reduction in mobility and mortality rate in Nigeria.
